- Get 1 L water

- Take 3 medium potatoes, cubes
- Take 2 carrots, cubes
- Prepare 1 onion, finely chopped
- Get 2 garlic cloves
- Take 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Get 0.25 teaspoon ground coriander powder
This dish gets its name from the Ottoman pasha Daoud/Dawood/Daud who administered Mt. Daoud Basha was known to be tyrant, but other than that, I could not find any more information. Notes: This meatballs recipe in tomato sauce is a riff off of a popular Lebanese-style dish called Dawood Basha (named for Dawood Basha who was a powerful governor of Lebanon during the Ottoman empire. Instructions to make Daoud basha (Lebanese meatballs):
- Mix the meat ingredients in a bowl and roll into ~30 meatballs and start frying them in a pan with 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- In a pot, add the potato and carrot cubes, chopped onions, garlic cloves and coriander powder with 2 tablespoons olive oil and the salt and mix on a medium heat for 5 minutes
- In a jug mix the sauce ingredients in ~1 L of lukewarm water then add it the liquid to the vegetables. Cover and keep on a medium heat for 10 min until the vegetables are almost soft and cooked
- When the meatballs are well cooked, remove them from the pan and add them to the pot with the sauce and the vegetables and leave for another 10min until the sauce thickens a bit and all the ingredients are well combined.
- Best served hot with white rice on the side
